..Zac Lange has taken jukai

We offer our congratulations to Zac who took Jukai in late April. Zac has been a member of our sangha for many years and was very excited about this event. The next day, Zac sat in meditation and study from dawn to dusk, after which he became a recognized lay disciple of Rev. Cederman's. Congratulations Zac.
 
..Temporary Mandala Installations
 
Recently Sangha members Kimberly Klosko and Amy Sorrentino recieved the tempory mandala which was enshrined in their home in Buffalo. We send a big congradulations to Kim and Amy. Its very inspirational to see our sangha grow through such faithful members. Thanks Kim and Amy.
     
 
Also this month we visited James Clohessy at his hone in Cheektawaga for his tempory mandala installation. James just received the Lotus Sutra and is a very supportive member of our Sangha. We followed the service with a great dinner that James prepared. Another great night for our sangha. Thanks, James.
 
..Lending our support in march for Tibet

We recently participated in a rally for Tibetan rights in Buffalo.  A large group of residents marched for solidarity including local Buddhist groups.  We chanted the Odaimoku along the way.  To see some photos, click here.

On December 7th, our sangha celebrated the enlightenment of the Buddha Sakyamuni. In addition to Shodaigyo service was an inspirational ceremony of light to show how the wisdom and compassion that the Buddha has bestowed on us from his enlightenment, brightens the world and dispels suffering. Numerous candles were used in this celebration. Thank you to those who attended for your support. Click here to see more photos.
       
   
The Rochester Sangha would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all those who attended this event on a very cold and snowy Western New York day. These individuals chose to come on a day they could have stayed warm and comfortable at home in order to hear about Buddhism and grow in their Buddhist Practice. Reverend Cederman and I recently went to the Universal School and mosque to provide education of Buddhism to a group of about 35 students, teachers and administration. Rev. Cederman gave a presentation on the Buddha’s life story and the basics of Buddhist doctrine followed by questions and answers. Out of respect to the wishes and traditions of the attendees, photos were limited but I was able to get some highlights (cick here).

2007 O-Eshiki Celebration
Nichiren Shonin passed away at Ikegami on October 13,1282. O-Eshiki is a festival commemorating this day. The festival is spectacular, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators to view the parades and festivities. Click here to see video of this years celebration.
